RE: How long are you going to keep your current travel trailer?

Considering mine is paid for i'll keep it till it falls apart. We looked hard and nearly got a new 5er but the dealer upped the price $1500 at the last second so we walked on the deal....I'll bet now he wishes he didn't (its still sitting on his lot). We went to the Hershey RV show and just couldn't find anything that we liked enough to start making payments on.

RE: Opinions wanted - 08 GMC 6L Gas

I'll chime in on this. I have an older (2000) 6.0 2500 w/4.10s I have put 10K+ (skid steer trailer) behind it and it will hold its own. my TT is only 6K and it will move that like its not even there. I wouldn't think twice about towing what the OP's trailer with my "old as dirt underpowered gasser". That being said i am Sure there are diesels out there that would make it look sick. But the 6.0 Gasser will get it done safely, cheaply and reliably.

RE: Tips for a Trip for newbies from PA to Fla.

I have been down both ways. Honestly one is as bad as the other. 95 has more traffic but its shorter. If you are willing to travel at night then traffic shouldn't be much of a problem.

RE: How would you handle this situation???

I'd winterize it before i leave it every time but I'd say you have a month before it even becomes an issue. After that would make sure it was winterized. Once you get on to it it only takes a few mins to do.

RE: How to mount a roof rack on my TT ?

Rather than tell you that you shouldn't and death will become you if you do...
I know that Pat and Cindy have one on their sunline. I can't remember their user name but here is their website http://www.everymilesamemory.com/ THey are pretty good about answering questions.

RE: Too much voltage

The voltage does not sound hi thats about what I'd expect, even 14.8 isn't awful high. I have ran into several times where the voltage regulator works intermittently, that is they are charging the battery when it doesn't need a charge. Rather than replacing the alternator I took them to a repair shop who for $25 rebuilt ONLY the regulator rather than the entire alt. Either way you have a bad voltage regulator.

RE: Winter parking in the street (snow areas only)

You don't want to let it along the street, nothing good can come of that. Is there a way to get it into your back yard?

RE: Chlorine in black water tank?

I am not going to read 4 pages of stuff on how clean folks like a poo tank. But I'll tell you what i do...tried the blue stuff, the green stuff, the Orange stuff, the dry stuff, the wet stuff. I am not a self proclaimed poo tank expert or clean freak but i do hate the smell of my own waste. What i found is that NONE OF IT WORKED AS WELL AS BLEACH! nor was as cheap or easy to find. FYI I use a half cup and a gallon of water to start then a half cup when i can smell it again. BTW i have never had a problem with leaky seals...I have camped 75~80 nights per year over the last 3 years using bleach

RE: Tips for a Trip for newbies from PA to Fla.

Personally, a good days driving for us is about 350 miles which with fuel stops is about 7 hours. Sure I can (and have) made it the 1000 miles from here to Orlando nonstop, but 20 Hrs at the wheel doesn't make for a vacation, its a grind. As Trop-a-cal said you can and may see freezing temps the whole way to orlando. However from my travles (not near as many as Trop's) I have found that once your in around the NC SC line you won't have to worrie about anything freezing up. Sure, you will see a few hours of temps in the mid to upper 20's it doesn't stay cold enough, long enough to do any harm as far as freezing up tanks or pluming. I have had my TT in the mid/low 20's for a weekend without problems, and mine is far from an "artic package". the frist thing to freeze for me is always the hose from the water connection to the TT.
As far as places to stay...I recommend Big water resort. Its RIGHT off of 95 around Santee. Nice place, nice people.
Have fun!

RE: I care less about the law

you know whats funny? All those guys driving overloaded rigs must be darn good drivers. If it were half as deadly as you say they'd be crashing into one another every weekend. My comment on enforcement is that when it becomes an issue, that is there are more than a few incidents a year, police will start enforcing overweight RVs. Until then stay out of our way!

RE: tow/haul

I use mine on county roads. As others have said it holds each gear longer on both up and down shifts. the real disadvantage i have found to it is that it will NOT let it into 4gear till about 65mph. when on a flat road crusing at 60 there is NO reason not to be in 4 th gear...which is when i turn mine off.
